Reception in honour of Minister of External Affairs of India Smt. Sushma Swaraj by Embassy of Indian in Madrid and Indian Community in Spain

A reception was organised in honour of EAM Smt. Sushma Swaraj which was attended by more than 200 members of the diaspora. The evening began with a rendition of Vaishnav Jan To Bhajan by Ms Natalia Mota Ibanez, a Spanish singer and Professor of Singing and Voice, followed by cultural performances in Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Flamenco and Flamenco-Kathak fusion by Ms Monica de la Fuente, ICCR Alumni and dancer- choreographer and Ms ShreyasheeNag, an exponent of Kathak. On the sidelines of the reception, the art exhibitions Mystic India by Ms. Marjorlaine del Pino and La India by Jose Carlos Palacios were also organised.

Interacting with the Indian community, Honorable EAM elaborated on the meaning of Gandhiji's favourite bhajan to the Indian Community, encouraging them to follow the path of a virtuous man who selflessly understands and alleviates the suffering of others. She applauded the cultural performance of the artists, drawing parallels to woman empowerment in Shakti and Durga, and thanked the community for making her feel like as if she was in India. She urged the diaspora to never forget their roots, keep an open line of communication and always contribute to India. The interactive session with the community showcased the diversity of Indian diaspora in Spain.
